Charity event

On 25.11. and 2.12. 2022 events on Nepal took place in Meran and Bozen/Bolzano. After a break of four years, some ProNepal board members could travel to Nepal again and inform themselves about the current status of the projects on site. They met with our project partners Jaya Rajbhandari and Prachandra and were able to attend the opening ceremony of the deep well in Sanga.

The public Nepal Evening was opened by the President Riccardo Ruffini. After an introduction with pictures and music, Thomas Benedikter spoke about the historical and current political development in Nepal. Afterwards, Christine De Mario and Ernst Preyer with amazing pictures reported about the ongoing co-operation projects on the ground, including the knitting project in Kathmandu, the first-aid room in Ghinghe, to name but a few, and brought up ideas for future outreach, such as in the area of people with disabilities and the elderly people in the area of Kathmandu and Sanga. Margherita Köfler provided information about the sponsorships for orphans organised by the association and invited all to take over a school sponsorship.

The highlight was an impressive film by Margherita  Köfler with texts by Ernst Preyer and Margot Schwienbacher (voice) about the inauguration ceremony of the deep well in Sangha, which reflected the deep gratitude of the people, their rituals and celebrations. Our Nepalese friend Asha Lama rounded off the event programme with a typical dance. A benefit market with small souvenirs from Nepal magically attracted the visitors and the evening ended with Nepali tea and many stimulating conversations and happy faces.
