ProNepal EO/ODV is a full voluntary organisation with the aim of improving the hard living conditions and the poverty which the population in Nepal must endure.
In February 2021, it was recognised as a legal entity under private law and registered in the respective provincial register under number 731.
We are a small group of families living in South Tyrol who spend part of our leisure time in carrying out humanitarian projects in Nepal.
Pro Nepal was founded in 2004 due to the initiative of the lawyer Helene Egger Matscher from Meran, Italy, after a journey in Nepal. Many founding members are South-Tyrolean families who adopted children in Nepal.
The association must face many problems and challenges related to poor hygiene, education and living conditions. Because of the poor hygienic conditions and malnutrition, there is high infant mortality due to the lack of medical services, health centres, medicines and competent staff which create some of the main problems.
In the isolated areas and villages, a high percentage of illiteracy exists. The children of many families are forced to work in the fields and in their houses due to the financial difficulties which deprive them of a good education.
Many families live in shanties, built with clay or wood with a thatched roof and an earthen floor, often without windows and chimneys. Access to clean drinking water, bathroom facilities, electricity and waste disposal are available to very few families.

sobald ich die Traurige nachricht bekommen habe ist meine Schwester Mingma die Helene ebenfalls kennt nach Bothnath Stupa und hat 108 Butter Lampen angezündet, Die Nonnen in Thamo haben einen gebets Vormittag für Helene gewidmet. Wir Buddhisten Glauben Diese Lichter und gebete Helfen Ihr auf den weg zum Nirvana. Helene hat Viele Jahre unermudlich für die Menschen in Nepal eingesetzt und Ihnen das Leben erleichtert und glücklich gemacht. Ich dürfte bei Einige Projekten Ihre Partner vor Ort sein und haben zusammen einige projekte erfolgreich durchgefürt. Sie hat die Mühe auf sich genommen am ablegelegensten Dörfer am Füße des Himalaya die projekte selbst zu besichtigen bei diesem gelegenheit haben wir uns näher kennengelernt und wir haben uns sehr gut verstanden. Sie war eine Angenehme Partnerin und ansprechperson.
Wir Danken Helene von Ganzen herzen für alles was sie für Menschen in Nepal getan hat! wir werden sie immer in Errinnerung behalten und Wünschen Ihre Familie viel Kraft für die schwerige Zeit.

Immer wieder trifft man im Leben auf Menschen, die trotz ihrer vielen beruflichen und privaten Verpflichtungen die Initiative ergreifen, sich die Zeit und Mühe nehmen, etwas in Gang zu setzen, was niemand von ihnen verlangt hat, so z.B. auf dem schwierigen Terrain der humanitären Hilfe in ärmeren Ländern. Viele Hürden stehen da im Weg, viel Geduld und Geschick ist gefragt, Ausdauer und echtes Mitgefühl mit den Menschen in jener Realität fern von hier. Zu dieser Art Mensch gehörte Helene. Meine Bewunderung, Dank und Wertschätzung. Viel zu früh ist sie von uns gegangen.

I express my heartfelt sympathy to Dr. Helen's family and entire ProNepal team for the loss of one of the kindest human being, Dr. Helene. Her compassion for humanitarian works, and charity for the Nepalese Society will always be remembered, appreciated and written with golden words. Her constant commitment in uplifting the socio-economic condition of Nepal throughout her life will be kept at first place. Nepalese community will always be indebted to her contribution. I personally thank her from my personal side and from the people of Saimarang, Kaski, Nepal. Also pray for her soul to be rest in peace in the heaven. We will miss you Dr. Helene.
