MAJUWA NEPAL Drinking Water System
Agreement signed between the Autonomous Province of Bolzano and ProNepal for the financing of the Majuwa Drinking Water System (Nepal)
In January 2024, ProNepal submitted a project to the Office for Volunteering and Solidarity of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano for the construction of a drinking water system for the small village of Majuwabari in the 14th ward of Banepa Municipality, Kavrepalanchowk District. The collected spring water will be pumped into a reservoir and distributed to about 100 households with a population of about 550. The aim is to provide a water point in each house. The estimated cost is around €104,000.
An adequate drinking water supply is one of the most important infrastructures in a village. It significantly improves the quality of life of the inhabitants. The project falls under SDG 6 (safe water and sanitation) of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
The Autonomous Province of Bolzano has now committed to finance 70% of the planned costs and the project is expected to be completed by the end of 2025. The population and ProNepal will co-finance the remaining 30%.
The agreement was signed a few days ago between the Autonomous Province of Bolzano and the President of ProNepal.
The project has been developed in close cooperation with the local population and our partner organisation S.E.O – Society for each other from Kathmandu.
Our partner organisation S.E.O. will also supervise all the construction work.
